Conference Funding

GradCast

The Western Research Forum (WRF) is a conference and journal that publishes and presents graduate student work across all disciplines. It is organized be the Vice-President Academic of SOGS and is typically hosted in March. Its publication is moving to a digital format and will soon be available on @ResearchWestern through the library.

If you would like to get involved with this event, or have other questions about this opportunity, see the SOGS website, or contact academic@sogs.ca

Attending conferences is a valuable part of the graduate student experience. To ease the financial burden of travel and other conference costs, many groups on campus are in a position to provide some financial support to eligible applicants.

Although your first stop should be communicating with your supervisor, your next steps should further consult resources such as the SOGS Travel Subsidy, and PSAC610’s Financial Assistance Fund.

The Faculty of Music Fund Form is available here: conference-travel-request

GradCast is the official radio show of the Society of Graduate Students. They broadcast every Tuesday night @ 6pm, and also log their episodes as downloadable content. GradCast features student discussions and presentations regarding the research and events here at UWO. Past episodes related to music have involved music students discussing their compositions and research, as well as hosting a special session for SOGSIM’s annual conference (WUGSOM) in August 2016.
